A Manageable Beginning:
We began at the very end of the Qur’an, where the surahs are shorter and easier to memorize. As we recall:“We began memorizing the Holy Qur’an starting from Surah An-Nas…”This approach builds immediate confidence and creates a solid foundation.
Regular Revision and Correction:
In every session, previously memorized portions were reviewed and strengthened. Special attention was given to correct pronunciation and the rules of Tajweed to ensure high-quality memorization.
Structured Progress:
After mastering the short surahs, we progressed systematically and at a comfortable pace through the Qur’an, always setting clear and achievable weekly goals.
The Result: A Milestone Achieved
The fruits of this disciplined and patient effort soon became evident. What began with a single short verse grew into an impressive achievement.

When Ramadan joined us at Denk Arabisch Academy, he shared a challenge many Muslims know well:
Although he could read the Qur’an, he found it difficult to grasp the deeper meanings and context of the verses in a simple and clear way.
The linguistic nuances of classical Arabic and the complexity of the messages formed a barrier that hindered his spiritual growth.

Foundational Arabic Knowledge
We began with the fundamentals of Qur’anic Arabic. Rather than modern dialects, we focused directly on grammar, vocabulary, and rhetoric essential for understanding the Qur’an.

Guided Tafsir (Exegesis)
Each verse was not only translated but explained in context. We analyzed the circumstances of revelation (Asbab al-Nuzul), linguistic beauty, and theological implications.

Practical Application
Ramadan was encouraged to actively apply what he learned. In small interactive sessions, he explained the meanings of verses in his own words and answered related questions.This reinforced his understanding and built his confidence.

Muhammad began his journey of learning the Holy Qur’an from the very beginning. It was a difficult journey, full of challenges and great effort. But by the grace of Allah, a great goal was achieved: completing the first Juz’ – both memorizing and understanding the verses – along with studying and explaining hadiths from “Al-Arba’in An-Nawawiyyah” and “Riyad as-Salihin,” in addition to developing good manners and character.

As he describes it, it was “a difficult journey full of challenges and great effort.” Many learners feel overwhelmed by the vastness of knowledge – Qur’an, tafsir, hadith, good conduct – and struggle to connect these areas into a meaningful whole.

The Solution: An Integrated and Structured Curriculum
At Denk Arabisch Academy, we developed an integrated curriculum for Mohammed that connects the different Islamic sciences instead of treating them separately:

1. Foundation in the Qur’an:
We began with the basics of reading and recitation (Tajweed), combining it from the start with gradual memorization and explanation of the verses.

2. The Light of the Sunnah:
Alongside Qur’an studies, selected hadiths from foundational works such as “Al-Arba’in An-Nawawiyyah” and “Riyad as-Salihin” were studied. This helped Mohammed understand Qur’anic teachings in light of the Prophetic practice.

The lessons placed special emphasis on good character (Akhlaq). Each lesson from the Qur’an and Sunnah was connected to practical daily-life examples.

By the grace of Allah, a major goal was achieved: completing the first Juz’ (Juz’ Amma), both memorizing and understanding the verses, along with the explanation of hadiths.
